Resumen: El P. Delfín Fernández Rodríguez nace en el pequeño municipio berciano de Castropodame en 1878, ingresa a la edad de 16 años en el Noviciado, profesando en 1895 y siendo ordenado sacerdote en 1902. Estamos ante un hombre de gobierno y como Provincial le toda vivir "los momentos difíciles del final de la dictadura de Primo de Rivera y los convulsivo de la II República y la Guerra Civil. En este contexto le toca gobernar y durante sus mandatos hace "algunas alusiones a esa situación político-social y aunque deja entrever su oposición, no a la República, si no a su forma de actuar contra la Iglesia y la religión", sabe mantenerse prudente y conciliador, invitando a sus frailes a un mayor compromiso por la paz social y por la nación: "Qué importa que haya cambios en la forma de gobierno" Lo que nos interesa es que haya buenos gobernantes en la República o la Monarquía". El P. Delfín fue un hombre de gobierno: Guardián, vicario y provincial. Un hombre sencillo. Moderado en su ser y su hacer como gobernante; servicial, compasivo y abierto a buscar siempre el bien para los frailes y la Provincia. Un hombre y un fraile con los dotes de mando basados en el servicio. Así mismo, durante su mandato se acepta las misiones de Potosí y Tarija en Bolivia y se celebran las Bodas de Oro de la revista El Eco Franciscano, canal de evangelización esencial en aquellos momentos.

Abstract: Fr. Delfín Fernández Rodríguez was born in the small municipality of Castropodame in 1878, entered the novitiate at the age of 16, professed in 1895 and was ordained a priest in 1902. We are dealing with a man of government and as a Provincial he lived through "the difficult moments of the end of the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera and the convulsive ones of the Second Republic and the Civil War. In this context he is called to govern and during his terms of office he makes "some allusions to that political-social situation and although he hints at his opposition, not to the Republic, but to its way of acting against the Church and religion", he knows how to remain prudent and conciliatory, inviting their friars to a greater commitment for social peace and for the nation: "What does it matter that there are changes in the form of government" What we are interested in is that there should be good rulers in the Republic or the Monarchy". Fr. Delfín was a man of government: Guardian, vicar and provincial. A simple man. Moderate in his being and acting as ruler; helpful, compassionate and always open to seek good for the friars and the Province. A man and a friar with service-based leadership skills. Likewise, during his term of office the missions of Potosí and Tarija in Bolivia are accepted and the Golden Anniversary of the magazine El Eco Franciscano is celebrated, a channel of evangelization essential at that time.
